Łódź, Poland 2017
Rethinking Memory Culture is a collaborative design residency in Łódź, Poland. Eighteen students from different countries and different studies including history, media production, journalism, and fine art participated in the residency. We were provided with information on this area of Poland during WWII, heard first hand experience from a Jewish survivor from Łódź, and visited a death camp nearby where many of the victims of the Łódź ghetto were transported.
At the end of the ten days, groups of presented their finalized concepts to students, teachers, and local museum curators.
As a result of this workshop, my peers and I constructed a concept for a light installation which honors the lives of the victims of the Łódź Ghetto. This work is to be installed during the Łódź Light Move Festival.
